The Platform is more on the ease of use side. Provides integrations to plenty of other systems. Efficient, productive and robust platform to develop RAD apps. Positive on the Application development time, deployment and rollback. Documentation, help resources and interactive training. Its marketplace is supportive of the developments with the components and integrations.
Requires a bit of learning curve before we cna make the best use of it. Pricing plans. Data synchronization between app and DB. Workflow atutomations and RPA features.
Develping applications rapidly that can be deployed nad delivered in less time. Mobile app and web apps, modernizing traditional apps.
The simple way to do it. It's very easy to get the path to certificarion
The environment requests such as a clean room with noting on or below the table
It's simple to deploy Outsystems taking the risk from several projects
Fast to develop an application Easy to understand the flow
the latest version is very buggy Doesn't like too much the integration studio Merges on studio sometimes can be really messy
1st: need to improve the new studio 2nd: Merges should be improved ASAP 3rd: The integration studio should be redesigned;
Outsystem is easy to star with, but also has a lot to offer (and learn)
pricing is directed to (bigger) companies. Someone starting a business would have a hard time (except for the free personal edition)
it is making software development a lot faster (and with that cheaper for the customer)
Outsystems has the best courses for the learning curve that is required as any other programing language. And those are free to attend! They take the developer on a great path where it leads to great achievements to the person who's trying to learn this new format of coding. It is visual, accessible and provides results pretty fast.
As a tool that is in constant growth, updates are a desired and normal thing to happen, but on this moment, for the MacOS plattform, not all features are available.
Apps and web-apps developed with no difference from the ones developed with traditional code. Outsystems allows it to create them fast, easy to maintain and in a more pleaseant way.
Easy to learn. Fast to improve. Being able to create an app quickly and with some cool features.
Some of the older tutorial videos (especially for OS Traditional) weren't so great or with the best quality.
Many integrations are becoming easier to deal with.
You can build low code apps in an agile framework with great results in a few weeks
Even if it's easy to learn, it might be hard for less technical people to easily get into it
I am a Business Analyst into a consulting company and I am learning which functionalities I can develop with outsystems in order to help our clients
With OutSystems you speed up a lot of tasks and if you need help there is everything you need on the websites. From guided paths to a well written documentation.
Sometimes Service Studio doesn't work fast as you would. Everything is cloud based so this affects loading times. During developing you'll never experience loading time luckily
It helps to produce more in less time and in this demanding market it's quite helpful.
Great UI and ready Templates to use in Applications
The complexity of custom UI screen design
Go to Market time reduced for some of the applications drastically, this is good news for all
How easy and fast it is to make an application, from start to finish it is very fast and it does a great job. It's also mobile compliant and that is something that I was missing in other low-code platforms. Also, the 'marketplace' where you can download everything for free is a big plus and with the personal environment you can try everything out before committing to anything.
For me it's the pricing, I liked the old pricing better and think that it's not that scalable for now.
For me it is that i can show a lot of progress in a short time and make our business happy with this. In other application the development time was to long and with OutSystems it goes faster.
The development of an application, web or mobile, is super fast and easy, and the platform is super user friendly. The performance of your development is very good.
Sometimes we face some unknown errors and the merge could be optimized! The widgets , like dropdown , input etc could be have a variables to set the color or borders or size or border avoiding use CSS to target each class.
The delivery of projects is faster than in traditional applications. And for people who are managing the projects in Outsystems, working with Agile is better and do the perfect match with Outsystems. For a medium/large business, outsystems is the best solution for internal applications and improve their processes etc etc
Feature-full low-code platform, and very easy to use interface.
Licensed versions are little too costly.
Quicker time to market for a requirement to meet customer requirements.
The capacity of rapidly create an application and adapt it
The impossibility to use branches to deploy sometimes leads to difficulties in deploying only some parts of the project
It allows us to rapidly deliver a solution, and adapt it throughout the project lifecycle
The quickness about creating mobile or reactive apps and also websites is very impressive. The learning curve is not that big. The support of the comunity is awesome. The Forge (applications) list has a lot of components that can be easily integrated in any Outsystems project.
Sometimes can be hard to customize some things in terms of UI and also in terms of UX. For simple and quick applications works like a charm, but for really customizable ones can be a bit hard to implement.
By the fact that Outsystems provides a quick way to develop apps, makes the time for the app to be live very short. This brings a lot of value because the clients can use it and test the apps very quick... Outsystems has a lot of help mechanisms in terms of making the devs life more agile and quick...
easy to deploy, easily create reusable components, Almost everything can be found in the forge, upgrading to a newer version brings no major problems.
you have public and private functions. Protected is missing in that list.
Time to maket, low technical knowledge to learn it
Reducing time to Development and support is terrific. The Ease of use and the quickness to learn is a plus as well. The way you can build a robust and agile team is great
New features are slow to come out, and the community has not achieved its full potential, from what I belie. The pricing is also a difficulty for small and even medium companies.
Usually, it is a lot faster to solve problems and also easy to create new apps swiftly. The integration with other apps is also a lot quicker, and building agile teams as well.
The Community support is excellent and answers questions quickly. I like that there is a low learning curve and that most of the questions I had were already asked and answered by others. I was able to build an app start to end in a little more than 2 weeks, and it was very easy to do so with all the features provided by the outsystems platform.
I was not too fond of the lack of features in building a reactive app compared to a traditional app. It would have been much better if I could have used the features of a traditional app in the reactive app without having to use a workaround.
I was building a timesheet and leave system using Outsystems. My main project was to research different low code platforms and then use one of them to create this app and see how easy or challenging it was. I think considering that I went from not knowing what a low code platform even is, to having a complete app in 2 weeks, Outsystems did a pretty good job with this platform. I also particularly liked that I could start from scratch and use different templates for each screen that I wanted and then personalize ot to my needs quickly and efficiently. The backoffice webapps provided by outsystems were also very helpful in user management and overall app management, although I ended up making my own user management system since I wanted it integrated in my app instead of being a separate website.
The speed to build apps, mechanisation which takes all the tiresome parts of developers away, allows you to concentrate on functions that make consumers move I can tell my company users what their app is like within minutes, and within weeks those who can begin and seeing placed and test if it meets business requirements. It's possible for a small team to build a fully developed smartphone application in a few days.
Very little – and it's improving all the time. Another of the problems of developing apps so quickly is that both sciences necessary to design software could indeed stay competitive. I would like more features, because they are often a bottleneck, to motivated to take the tests and documents.
In just five days, a charity has been helped to fully digitize its business processes and provide a complete customer management solution, a scheduling solution for appointments and a computerized underwriting but also self-reporting solution with payment reconciliation. Management reports, automated reply email alerts and knowledge of past. It allowed them to reduce substantially, allowing their treasured time to help more people and spend on employee actions. They are provided with accurate information to the extent that they are educated better. It helped the company to expand very quickly and to double in size.
The easy to use Service Studio and Service Center. Service Studio is very user friendly and clear. Service Center is easily accessible and provides a lot of information in one location. The way you can deploy using Lifetime is also a great benefit from OutSystems. If you have the role to do the deploys, you don't need anyone else, you can do it whenever you need a deploy.
The stability of the platform is sometimes not so great. The quality of the code of the OutSystems components is not always perfect. There are a lot of warnings in OutSystems modules or modules that don't follow the architecture dashboard best practices.
OutSystems allows me to provide my client with more development in a lot less time, so it's cheaper for them in development terms. The application I am making will let my client's customers make easier requests and allow my client to automate certain processes that need human manipulations at the moment.
It is so amazing to have a visual result this fast so you can check at the customer what he or she thinks. This speeds up the process and prevents you from developing something that the client does not like afterall
You have to update dependencies manually which sometimes results in errors
You can achieve results so fast that you can check really fast with the product owner
