Better Uptime, even on their free plan, provide a clean and easy way to track the availability of your online services. The free plan is great for small-scale projects, while the paid plans provide extremely useful features like calling on-call staff when an outage is detected.
Setting up the website for your customers to view the status of your services was a bit confusing at first, but after a few minutes of messing with it, it worked as intended.
Better Uptime provides us with a great way of tracking the status of our services without setting up a system ourselves. It is extremely easy to set up and maintain.
It was an easy setup. Adding new domains or services was simple and there were many monitoring options available. On top of several monitoring options, there were also several notification methods too.
There isn't really much to dislike about Better Uptime. If I had to list my biggest complaint so far, it would just be that I wish the app was an app and not just a PWA/portal to the website.
Keeping an eye on my servers was the main reason for getting Better Uptime. Now I also use it to monitor services on my home network to get notifications if my internet goes down when I'm not there.
The setup was quick with minimal friction. The overall experience is pleasant and the service does what it should right off the bat.
Nothing comes to mind so far. Smooth sailing.
Centralized uptime check with alert escalation bavked-in.
I wanted a service that did both monitoring and alerting. Before moving on to Better Uptime, I tried some services (AdminLabs, Status Page...). I used AdminLabs for several years, but I had to leave them because their probes used the same cloud provider as mine. The price is fair and I love the incident workflow, the display is clear and allows you to describe all the steps. I really like the response times across regions graph by monitor, this helps us to know where we can improve our latency !
The only weakness I could find is the layout used for the status page and the lack of response times graph on the status page.
Better Uptime helps me check the liveness of my services across the world. I do have internal monitoring and alerting, but this is never enough because sometimes, even if your services are reachable from inside your infrastructure, they may be unreachable from the outside.
The UI is very clean and well done. I always find the right section without having to navigate complex menus.
Not a dislike, more something I'd like to see implemented: it would be very nice if the home page would show websites and services monitored with some insight, some sort of cards of websites instead of just the list of monitored sites that you need to click to see the status of (though the red and green light indicator shows if a website is under incident).
Having all my websites monitored and avoiding missing an SSL renewal allows me to sleep better. And having the possibility to set multiple types of alerts is an excellent way to prevent missing issues and incidents. The status page is handy, too, and the info is clean and straight to the point.
I like that the interface is simple and that uptime has a free plan for freelancers and small businesses who wants to make sure that their site is up and running.
Nothing until now, I checked a few solutions, and I ended up trying out Better Uptime. Even though I have a good host, it is nice to ensure that my site is up if I change to a less stable provider. Had I known about BetterUptime some months ago, I would have saved quite a few bucks on hosting because then I could have sent the uptime reports along to the cheap hosting company.
I make sure that my provider delivers what I am paying for and since uptime is precious. Better uptime provides a simple tool to monitor it. Since my business is not relying heavily on my website, it is nice with a free plan, but for large sites, it is a no-brainer.
The status pages are really nice, like really nice - probably my favourite part about the entire experience. 30 second checks are also really good. Server Agents would be a nice addition!
Not being able to modify the actual UI of the status pages, for example colours to match the colour scheme of the actual business. Other than this, the experience and panel is amazing.
Status pages at a more affordable price, the call scheduling is also very handy to automatically rotate people who are on call without having to do anything from a manual perspective.
Super-fast setup and receive instant value. The status page works like a charm. We start receiving useful information in no time.
Nothing at the moment. It's very clear to config. Really easy.
We need a status page for our service, to show hows the service is. Also, really fast feedback if the platform has come problem.
Quick and easy platform to use. Even using the basic level lets me set up good monitors and beautiful dashboards. Often you have to select 2 out of 3, but here you get it all. Good service, Great price (free?), and easy to set up.
I would love it if there were dark mode available. But for the price, I can't complain.
Getting fast notifications on when there are issues for APIs or ISPs. Sending reports to users with relevant information.
As a busy digital agency monitoring over 100 client websites, we could not do without Better Uptime. We are able to test outages against the server endpoints, the DNS and the development/ staging instances in order to eliminate false positives and narrow down causes.
There is really nothing to dislike about the service/ software.
Checking AWS and other hosting providers, being able to accurately report to clients on points of failure (if any).
Good detail dashboard. Free custom status page.
Honestly, nothing. But need more functions on the mobile app
I can keep an eye on all my websites with this tool
Better Uptime does exactly what it says on the box. It gives you detailed uptime stats and alerts for multiple domains with very little setup required. If you need uptime monitoring, this is the product!
This is a rare case where there simply isn't anything to dislike. The product works exactly as expected.
Tracking uptime across multiple domains with instant alerts if there are issues.
Have used many monitoring tools in the past however love just how easy better uptime is to use and setup. We absolutely love Better Uptime and can't recommend it enough!
Whilst there is a grouping feature for the monitors and heartbeats it does require you to drag them to the bottom of the screen to create a new group. We would like to see the following: 1. Sort by group name for entire screen as it can get pretty messy when you have 100's of groups on one screen. 2. Sort each group by name so that each heartbeat and monitor is sorted in each group 3. Create a group without having to drag a monitor or heartbeat to the bottom. This is needed especially when you start creating thousands of groups and monitors.
Allows us to detect expiring SSL certificates. We also use it to monitor uptime of servers and network devices.
- Support is usually responsive and has helped me a few times - Simple UI - Backup to S3 compatible storage providers
- Setting up a dashboard could be be easier
Logs helps us to make better sense of our server logs and it provides useful capabilities to send alerts based on logs.
Easy to setup and start receiving meaningful results. As well as the availability of a free option to use on personal projects. Which I find to be great as I can explore the basic offering until I am ready to implement more advanced tools. Also I find them constantly working on improving their offering which is always great. I found communication via email to be very fast, helpful and prompt.
The use of the email link in order to sign in.
Getting notified as soon as my site is down.
It is very useful for centralizing many different data streams. I have used Better Stack for server log files and the UI on the website was inuitive and helpful. The implementation docs allowed me to have this up and running in no time.
I would like an easier method for pulling down these log files into an excel sheet. Perhaps a download data button on the main log page?
I have lots of logs coming through my website everytime a user does something. Before betterstacks these logs would tend to overwrite themselves if done concurrently. Better Stacks allowed me to funnel all logs to one place for easy analysis.
BetterStack offers a wide range of functions without being overloaded. The web interface is very tidy and follows a clear design principle. We have changed our previous provider in order to make our reactions to operational disruptions faster and more transparent. It also helps us that the number of calls triggered by the system is unlimited. With our previous provider we only had 30 free calls per year! The status pages are very clear and easy to configure. The monitoring systems themselves are very reliable, we initially set them to be a bit too alert, but that has leveled off. We are also very satisfied with the support, we had direct contact with a permanent contact person.
We are currently still having problems with the Microsoft Teams integration and the integration of the status page as a script on our website, which we can certainly solve in a timely manner together with support. Other than that, setting up, ordering, etc. wasn't a problem.
With our previous provider, we often had problems with false positives and alarms because the heartbeat services had very high response times in the meantime. In addition, we were very limited in the design of our status pages and customer communication in the event of a fault was also very inflexible.
Easy to get started with centralized logging using Logtail. Includes log search functionality. Additionally provides customized views with alerts, alongside a dashboard to monitor your system and application logs. It also has a generous free tier.
It recommends using Vector to send the logs to its service. That may require a little more configuration if you want to log your custom application log files.
Centralized Logging for distributed applications and microservices is made easy
This software is simple to use, has a very well looking web interface to manage it. It was simple to set it up with all of my server, services and customers devices.
There is nothing in particular I didn't liked. Maybe the possibility to integrate the notification of this software with telegram could be useful for me and other users.
Knowing when the services are down is AWESOME! The notifications works great and all the members of my team knows when services that we are maintaining are down.
Setup was fast and easy, reports are clear
Not yet encountered any negatives while using the product
I want to get notified when a site goes down, why it was down, and if it is structural. No more expired SSL thanks to this tool is a sweet bonus.
